A to Z: I is for Inkworld

9 Apr

I is for Cornelia Funke’s Inkworld trilogy, which includes Inkheart, Inkspell, and Inkdeath.  It’s a great series that blurs the line between stories in the real world and stories within books.  The trouble is … life in the Inkworld is more tragic than it is magical.  Is there any hope for a happily-ever-after?

Many of my students love the Inkworld stories!  What about you?

I loved reading the books, I for some reason never read the 3rd one. I discovered Cornelia Funke through “Wilde Hühner” (wild chickens) and have read many of her books. I have always appreciated her style of narration and the fact that she is not stuck in one genre.
I secretly hoped that we can truly enter a book and live the story.

I’ve only read the first myself! I stumbled upon the first book by accident — I think a student of mine left in a class one time — and I was drawn to the cover art. I like Funke’s writing style, and I did purchase the entire trilogy, so I’m looking forward to finding out what happens in both worlds!

Oh have fun with the read. It is definitely something for all ages and not reserved for teens only. Oh the artwork is amazing I agree.
